Red Bull New York have added Belgium youth international Joyeux Masanka Bungi on loan from RB Leipzig through June 30, the club announced today.
“We’re pleased to welcome Joyeux on loan from RB Leipzig,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He’s a talented young player with strong technical quality, and we believe this will be an important step in his development while adding to our group.”
Masanka Bungi, 19, joins New York after spending the last year with RB Leipzig since signing a professional contract with the club on February 7, 2025. Masanka Bungi joined RB Leipzig Academy in 2023, where he has made 56 appearances between the U-17 and U-19 levels, while also recording 10 goals and eight assists. The defender helped the U-17’s to the semifinals of the German Championship in 2024. Prior to Leipzig, Masanka Bungi played for KRC Genk Academy from 2017 to 2022.
“Joyeux is a talented young player with a strong mentality, and we are looking forward to working with him,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We are excited to help him continue his development.”
The Berchem-Saint-Agathe, Belgium native has represented Belgium at the youth national team level. Masanka Bungi has featured for the U-15’s, U-16’s, U-17’s, and U-18’s. He has made a total of 28 appearances for Belgium Youth National Teams.
