Red Bull New York has exercised the option to purchase forward Mijahir Jiménez and completed the transfer from CD Plaza Amador for an undisclosed fee, the club announced today. Jimenez has signed a two-year MLS contract through the 2027-28 season with options for 2028-29, 2029-30, and 2030-31 season. He will occupy an international roster spot on New York's roster.

“Mijahir has earned this opportunity through his hard work, professionalism, and development since joining our club,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He has embraced our playing style, continues to improve every day, and shown he is ready for the next step.”

Jiménez, 19, has been with Red Bull New York II for the last two seasons, where he made 33 career MLS NEXT Pro appearances and scored 11 goals and tallied six assists. The forward made his MLS NEXT Pro debut against NYCFC II on May 9, 2025, and then scored his first career MLS NEXT Pro goal in his first start in a 4-1 win over New England Revolution on May 18, 2025. He made four appearances during the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Cup playoffs and scored one goal in helping lead RBNY II to their first MLS NEXT Pro Cup title.

The forward made his MLS debut on a short-term agreement on July 25 in a home match against Charlotte FC at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Jiménez made his first career MLS start on August 1 against Orlando City SC, where he scored his first two career MLS goals and became the second player in franchise history to score a brace in his first career MLS start and the first since 2004.

“Mijahir has continued to improve, and we are excited to have him with us as he takes the next step in his development,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “Through his work ethic and his commitment in training every day, he deserves this opportunity and we can’t wait to continue working with him.”

Prior to joining New York, Jiménez played for CD Plaza Amador in Panama, where he made 25 appearances for the club. He made his debut for CD Plaza Amador on January 28, 2024, and was the youngest striker to debut for the club at 16 years, 306 days old.
