Red Bull New York have re-signed goalkeeper A.J. Marcucci, the club announced today. Marcucci signs a four-year MLS contract through 2029 with an option for 2030.

“We are pleased to sign A.J. to a new long-term contract to keep him with the club,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “Despite his season-ending injury, A.J. had a fantastic stretch with us this past year, we believe in his abilities and are excited to continue to have him as a part of this organization.”

Marcucci, 26, has been with New York for the past five seasons after being selected in the third round of the 2021 MLS SuperDraft. This past season, Marcucci made his MLS debut on March 22 against Toronto FC, where he posted his first career MLS victory. Across all competitions, Marcucci made seven appearances, where he posted a 4-1-2 mark, which included a 2-0-0 mark in MLS play. He also became the first RBNY goalkeeper to record an assist in a Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match.

For his first four seasons with the club, Marcucci featured with Red Bull New York II, where he made 54 career appearances and recorded 12 shutouts. In 2023, he recorded six shutouts in MLS NEXT Pro, which ranked tied for second in the league, and was also named a finalist for the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Year. During the 2024 season, he went on loan to IF Gnistan, where he made 14 appearances and recorded five shutouts.

“A.J. is a great player and person that we believe has a bright future ahead of him,” said Head Coach Michael Bradley. “We are grateful to keep him at the club, and we are looking forward to having him back on the pitch after his recovery process.”

The West Chester native earned NCAA All-American First Team honors by both United Soccer Coaches and D3soccer.com during the 2019 season and he was also named 2017 NESCAC Rookie of the Year and 2018 NESCAC Player of the Year.
