PLAYOFF BOUND RED BULLS WELCOME COLUMBUS CREW ON SUNDAY

The New York Red Bulls officially clinched a spot in the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs over the weekend with a 3-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday combined with a 3-1 Houston Dynamo loss to D.C. United on Sunday. The Red Bulls have two regular season games remaining and will play its home finale on Sunday, October 19 against the Columbus Crew at 3:00 PM ET (TV: MSG, UniMas). New York is 4-1-1 over its last six games overall and 8-0-2 at Red Bull Arena since since June 27, including seven straight wins.



The Red Bulls are currently alone in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with a 12-9-11 record and 47 points. New York can finish as high as second place in the East with two regular season games remaining. The Red Bulls are unbeaten against Columbus this season, posting a 1-0-1 record over two games. Columbus is currently fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 12-10-10 record and 46 points.


Red Bulls forward Bradley Wright-Phillips still leads the MLS Golden Boot race with 25 goals after scoring against Toronto FC on October 11 in a 3-1 win. The Englishman is just two shy of the single season record with two games left.

If New York finishes in second or third place in the East:

  • Saturday, November 1 or Sunday, November 2 - Conference Semifinal: Leg 1
  • Saturday, November 8 or Sunday, November 9 - Conference Semifinal: Leg 2


MLS Cup Playoffs Ticket Information

Full-Season Ticket holders already have their same seats for the first two playoff matches included in their ticket plan. They will have the opportunity to purchase additional seats to the first home playoff match during a pre-sale starting on Tuesday, October 14 at 10:00AM. Blue Members will have the opportunity to purchase seats during a pre-sale starting on Wednesday, October 15 at 10:00AM.

BOVER MAKES FIRST CAREER GOAL COUNT

Ruben Bover scored his first career MLS goal against Toronto FC on October 11 at Red Bull Arena. Bover put the Red Bulls up 2-0 in the 35th minute after a Thierry Henry cross wasn't cleared cleanly by Toronto as the midfielder collected the loose ball and finished with his left foot.


Bover, now in his second full season with New York, has made 20 appearances (three starts) has recorded one goal and one assist.


MCCARTY SCORES THIRD GOAL OF THE SEASON

Dax McCarty scored his third goal of the season against Toronto FC on October 11 in a 3-1 win at Red Bull Arena. The midfielder found himself wide open on the far post late in the first half where he finished off a Wright-Phillips' pass to put New York ahead 3-0 before the break.


McCarty has made 29 appearances (27 starts) for the Red Bulls this season and now has three goals and two assists on the season.


ROBLES TIED FOR SECOND IN THE LEAGUE IN SAVES
