New York acquires allocation money from Houston

Hunter Freeman

Red Bull New York announced today that it has acquired allocation money from the Houston Dynamo in exchange for New York’s natural 2012 third round MLS SuperDraft pick and the rights to defender Hunter Freeman.

“We are pleased to acquire more allocation money, as it allows us flexibility to make different moves going forward,” said Red Bull New York General Manager and Sporting Director Erik Soler.

In 2010, the Red Bulls finished their first season at Red Bull Arena – the premier soccer facility in North America located in Harrison, NJ – by completing the biggest turnaround in MLS history, winning the regular season Eastern Conference crown. Led by MLS Coach of the Year finalist Hans Backe, the Red Bulls boast international stars Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez, MLS Newcomer of the Year finalist Joel Lindpere and recent U.S. Men’s National Team debutants Juan Agudelo and Tim Ream.
