New York Red Bulls Waive Defender Shawn McLaws

HARRISON, N.J. (February 12, 2016) - The New York Red Bulls have waived second-year defender Shawn McLaws, the club announced today.


McLaws was selected in the third round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft with the 59th overall pick. He did not appear in MLS action last season, but got regular time with the Red Bulls USL side, New York Red Bulls II. McLaws made 21 starts on loan to USL, and contributed a goal and an assist from the back line. He also appeared for the Red Bulls in the International Champions Cup win over Chelsea FC in July.


The Edmond, OKla., native played four seasons at Coastal Carolina University.
