ORLANDO (May 6, 2016) – The New York Red Bulls earned their first road result of 2016 on Friday night, playing to a 1-1 draw with Orlando City SC at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Bradley Wright-Phillips staked New York a lead, but a second half goal from Orlando’s Kevin Molino saw the teams split points.

New York extends its unbeaten streak to three games (2-0-1) and is now 3-6-1 on the season. New York is 2-1-1 all-time against Orlando City.

Wright-Phillips opened the scoring in the 19th minute, running onto a slotted pass from Sacha Kljestan and beating a charging Joe Bendik for his third of the season.

It was the sixth assist of the season for Kljestan, who enters the weekend leading all of MLS in assists.

The Orlando answer came in the 67th minute from Kevin Molino. The play started with a long ball to Cyle Larin, who cut inside and lost possession, but the loose ball fell to the feet of Molino for the finish.

Red Bulls forward Gonzalo Veron entered the match in the 64th minute, replacing Lloyd Sam. It was the first game action for Veron since suffering an injury against Houston on March 19.

Center back Aurelien Collin, acquired from Orlando City SC last Friday, made his first start for New York against his former club.

Orlando’s Cristian Higuita was issued a straight red card in the 85th minute, but New York was unable to capitalize with the late man-advantage.
