New York Red Bulls U-18 (1) vs. Philadelphia Union U-18 (2)

CHESTER, PA (May 21, 2016) ā€“ The New York Red Bulls U-18s fell 2-1 in a top of the table clash with the Philadelphia Union U-18s.

The Union scored a goal first in each half to give themselves a two-goal cushion. The Red Bulls responded well after the second goal to create their two best chances of the game through Samad Bouthong and then Brian Saramago.

The Red Bulls continued to push and would get on the score sheet in the 87th minute when Saramago was fouled on the halfway line. Saramago was quick to play the free kick and played a ball behind the Philadelphia defense for Barry Sharifi. Sharifi still had a lot to do and scored to give the Red Bulls a chance in the closing stages of the game.

The goal however came too late as the Philadelphia defensive held firm to give them the win.

ā€œI thought the team played very well,ā€ Man of the Match Mason Deeds said. ā€œWe played and fought for each other to end, which eventually we were, rewarded a goal late in the game.  The team never gave up. Everyone was tuned in and working for an equalizer right up until the final whistle.ā€

Next up for the Red Bulls U-18s is PA Classics on Saturday, May 21, in Manheim, PA.

The Red Bulls started off the first half creating some good chances to score while limiting the Union to only one real opportunity that bounced off the post. The half would end 0-0.

In the second stanza, Philadelphia came out strong and the Red Bulls found it difficult to create the same rhythm and success they had in the first half. Although New York managed to have some good stints in possession, the Union scored the game-winning goal from a cross that floated over the Red Bulls keeper to find the back of the net.

New York Red Bulls Academy U-13 (3) vs. Philadelphia Union U-13 (1)

WAYNE, PA (May 21, 2016) - On Saturday, the Red Bulls U-13s travelled to Wayne to face the Philadelphia Union.

The Red Bulls were more than up for the challenge as they controlled the opening 20 minutes with clinical possession and defensive pressure. The U-13s created three or four good chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 28th minute when Justin Weiss poked home a near post effort from six-yards out, after a ball across from the end line by Esteban Molina. The teams entered halftime 1-0.

Red Bulls goalkeeper Elliot Leinweber had to exit the game, midway through the second half, chipping a tooth after making a save. Philadelphia found a way back into the game after capitalizing off a long ball over the top, slipping the ball underneath the keeper who was rushing outside the box, to tie the game 1-1.

The U-13s stayed composed and continued their quick ball movement and relentless pressure to find a winner in the 72nd minute. Kyle Linhares cut a ball back to the top of the 18-yard box on the left side to Jayson Argueta, who curled the ball into the far side panel over the outstretched Philly keeper to go ahead, 2-1.

The Red Bulls were not finished as they continued to attack and were rewarded with a third goal to seal the game. Justin Weiss was taken down from behind 20-yards out, which resulted in a direct free kick from just outside the box.
