RICHMOND, Va. (July 30, 2016) – New York Red Bulls II suffered its first road loss of the season on Saturday night, falling  2-1 to the Richmond Kickers at City Stadium. Brandon Allen put New York ahead in the 10th minute, but the Kickers quickly equalized, and found a stoppage-time winner to take all three points.

NYRB II is now 12-3-5, and 8-1-1 on the road. The team remains in second place in the East behind Louisville City FC.

Allen scored his team-leading ninth of the season, taking a first-time pass from Derrick Etienne Jr. and beating the Richmond goalkeeper. The play started with pressure from Florian Valot causing a turnover deep in the Richmond half.

The Kickers leveled the match just a minute later with a penalty kick converted by Yudai Imura.

The teams would stay deadlocked until stoppage time, when a loose ball after a long cross fell to Richmond’s Jackson Eskay, who was able to beat Ryan Meara through traffic for the game-winner.

NYRB II continues on the road swing to face the Harrisburg City Islanders on Tuesday, August 2. The team is next home to host Orlando City B on Friday, August 12 at Red Bull Arena.
