MLS Commissioner Don Garber Becomes NYRB II’s First Season Ticket Holder

MONTCLAIR, N.J. – MLS Commissioner Don Garber became New York Red Bulls II’s first season ticket holder at Montclair State University.

Garber, a Montclair resident, was recognized at a special ceremony, held at MSU Soccer Park, the 2017 home of Red Bulls II.

“These are the things that we love in our sport because it’s the establishing the permanent roots for the game,” Garber said. “We want to make our game accessible.

“Not just for those who want to go to Red Bull Arena to see the First Team, and see the Supporters’ Shield winners, but kids in the community who can go see young academy players or see the second team play and then hopefully aspire to be a Red Bull First Team player.”

In addition to being the home pitch for the Red Bulls II, the MSU Soccer Park will be available for the Red Bulls’ Premier Development League (PDL) team and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches. Red Bulls Training Programs will also have the opportunity to host residential camps for youth soccer players at the university.

“Here, particularly in northern New Jersey, the support for the game at the grassroots level is really high so it’s a great development for the sport,” Garber said. “We’ve got to connect the dots in our sport [and] this is a great example of that.

“You have the high school coach, the [Montclair State] men’s and women’s coach, you have lots of people that are involved in the youth development scene here and when we connect all those dots, that’s going to build the kind of sport we want in our country.”

The Red Bulls are making improvements to MSU Soccer Park including, but not limited to, increased seating capacity, a press box and streaming capabilities.
