HARRISON, N.J. (May 11, 2017) – The New York Red Bulls have loaned Homegrown midfielder Derrick Etienne Jr. to New York Red Bulls II, the organization’s USL affiliate, ahead of Thursday’s road match against Charlotte Independence at Eagle Field on the campus of Winthrop University.


Thursday’s USL match kicks off at 7 p.m. and can be seen via USL Match Center.


Per the Right of Recall incorporated into the loan agreement of Etienne Jr., the New York Red Bulls (MLS) retain the right to recall the player at any point during the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance guidelines.


Etienne Jr., a Patterson, N.J. native, joined the Red Bulls Academy as an Under-14 player. He was signed as a Homegrown Player on December 21, 2015.


In 2016, Etienne Jr. featured heavily for NYRB II, recording seven goals and seven assists in 28 games total en route to the club's first USL Championship.


Etienne Jr. has played in nine MLS games this season, making four starts.
