USL Match Preview: NYRB II Travel to Face Bethlehem Steel FC

HARRISON, N.J. (June 8, 2017) – New York Red Bulls II (6-7-3, 21 points) make the short trip to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Sunday, to take on Bethlehem Steel FC (7-6-2, 23 points). Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. ET and can be seen via the USL Match Center.


New York is coming off a 1-0 home win over Saint Louis FC at MSU Soccer Park last weekend. Brandon Allen scored the game-winning goal in the 26th minute off a rebound from the foot of Vincent Bezecourt’s free kick, It was Allen’s ninth on the year, placing him fourth in the USL leaderboard.


Despite recording the second most goals in the Eastern Conference with 25, NYRB II was shutout last time out against Bethlehem, the first time that has occurred in the four times they have played one another.


New York sits just two points behind the fifth-place Steel in the Eastern Conference standings.


Current NYRB II defender David Najem will look to face off against his brother and former Red Bulls Academy product, Adam Najem. They faced off against one another for the first time in their careers last time out in a 2-0 with Adam registering a goal and an assist. They are both expected to play.


The match begins a stretch of three matches in six days for NYRB II that will test their depth and provide clear opportunities to make ascent back towards the top of the east.


NYRB II stay in-state and travel to Harrisburg City Islanders for a Wednesday evening match at FNB Stadium.
