USL Match Preview: NYRB II Welcome In-Form Charlotte Side

HARRISON, N.J. (July 14, 2017) – New York Red Bulls II (6-9-3, 21 points) return home to face an in-form Charlotte Independence team Saturday, July 15 at MSU Soccer Park. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET. (LIVESTREAM: USL Match Center)


New York is in the midst of three matches in six days and will round out their packed schedule Saturday looking for their first win of the trio coming off losses to Pennsylvania rivals, Bethlehem Steel FC and Harrisburg City Islanders.


Vincent Bezecourt, the USL’s assist leader with seven, was called up on a short-term loan to the first team Thursday for their US Open Cup match against the New England Revolution, which saw New York prevail 1-0 to advance to the semi-finals. This was Bezecourt’s first appearance in the 18 for the MLS side.


NYRB II is coming off a 2-0 loss to Harrisburg, Wednesday that saw Rafael Diaz make a career-high six saves.


Charlotte (8-3-4, 28 points) enters the match on a five-game winning streak most defeating Saint Louis FC, 5-1 Saturday.


These two teams met once previously this USL season with the Independence also winning over NYRB II by a similar 5-1 scoreline. Jorge Herrera leads the team with nine goals, tied with Brandon Allen for fourth in the league.


Following Saturday’s match, NYRB II welcome Toronto FC II to MSU Soccer Park for their first meeting of the year Friday, July 21.
