All-time series: First Meeting

HARRISON, N.J. (August 14, 2017) –  Facing their second opponent in four days, the New York Red Bulls and FC Cincinnati clash in the U.S. Open Cup Semifinal on Tuesday at Nippert Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on USSoccer.com and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn.

New York Red Bulls Radio goes live at 7 p.m. ET with triHonda Countdown to Kickoff, hosted by Matt Harmon.

New York appears in the Open Cup Semifinals for the fifth time in franchise history, owning a 1-3 all-time record in the match. The Red Bulls lone victory came back in 2003, defeating D.C. United, 3-2, at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University.

With Sporting Kansas City advancing to the Open Cup Finals, New York will have to play their final two matches on the road for a chance to hoist the cup. Since the tournament moved to home venues in the semifinals and finals in 2000, no team has won back-to-back road matches en route to the Open Cup title. FC Cincinnati is the first USL team to advance to the semifinals since the Richmond Kickers in 2011.

New York has had three different goal scorers in the tournament as Daniel Royer scored the game winner against NYCFC, Sacha Kljestan scored against the Philadelphia Union and Bradley Wright-Phillips tallied the game-winning goal in the 87th minute versus the New England Revolution.

FC Cincinnati’s goalkeeper Mitch Hildebrandt has been the best netminder in the tournament, not allowing a goal in four matches and recording 21 saves. Cincinnati, however, will be without Djiby Fall, who has scored all four of the team’s goals during the tournament due to yellow card accumulation.

New York has a quick turnaround, traveling to Oregon for a matchup with Portland on Friday, August 18. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET with coverage on FS1 and New York Red Bulls Radio.
