Sean Davis Suspended for Chicago Fire Match

New York Red Bulls midfielder Sean Davis will serve a one-game suspension against the Chicago Fire due to yellow card accumulation.

Davis was issued a yellow card against FC Dallas.

With Davis ruled out for Saturday’s game, head coach Jesse Marsch said multiple players are capable and ready to step up in his absence.

“Having Danny [Royer] back would be key for that but we can rotate different guys into that spot,” Marsch said. “We have a few more options for how we can rotate guys and use different guys.”

Marsch explained that slotting in players for Davis may also affect their selection for forwards and attacking midfielders, depending upon their final game plan.

“I think [Muhamed] Keita came on and was affective so he becomes an option even from the start,” Marsch said. “He’s been getting fitter and fitter. I think we’ll have a lot of options and it’ll be sizing up how the week goes and then what we think the game plan will be and then who we play.”

New York takes on the Chicago Fire on Saturday, September 9 at 4 p.m. ET (TV: Unimás, STREAM: Facebook Live, RADIO: New York Red Bulls Radio on Tunein).
