Details Set The New York Red Bulls Apart

The devil's in the details for the New York Red Bulls.

"Details are what makes us good," Sacha Kljestan said on Wednesday. "Details are what separate us from the rest of MLS."

Jesse Marsch, Kljestan and the Red Bulls are entering their final stretch of games for the MLS regular season and have the U.S. Open Cup Final on Wednesday, September 20.

"We know that we’re going up against an experienced, winning team," Kljestan said of Sporting Kansas City. "We know we’re in for a tough game, against those guys, against their home crowd."

SKC comes into the Final as two-time MLS Cup Champions (2000, 2013) and three-time U.S. Open Cup winners, with their most recent Open Cup win coming two years ago (2004, 2012 and 2015).

"They’re going to want to win that cup on their home field, but we’re going to try and come in and spoil the party and make some history for our club," the Red Bulls' Captain said.

Marsch and New York have an MLS matchup to get through on Sunday, home against Philadelphia Union, before the Final, but plans are already in the works for which team will take the pitch and how they will play.

"Obviously, we have not reached the pinnacle yet, but we’re hoping that our details help us get there," he said.
