The New York Red Bulls play for hardware on Wednesday night in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Final against Sporting Kansas City.

For Captain Sacha Kljestan, the opportunity to win a trophy with the team would "be a great sense of accomplishment."

"I came here with the ultimate goal to help this club win its first MLS Cup but, secondary, to help this club win its first US Open Cup," Kljestan said following the team's game against Philadelphia Union on Sunday. "Now that I’ve been here for two and a half years and I’ve gotten to know some of these fans and I’ve gotten to know the people that work for this club, that have gone this long without winning the U.S. Open Cup or the MLS Cup, it would mean a lot to us."

Kljestan said the team will be "all-in" on the opportunity to win the Open Cup.

"It’s going to be a huge challenge for us, but I think we’re going to be all up for it and we’re all pretty excited about the opportunity to play for a title," he said.

The Final will be broadcast nationwide on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes.

The match broadcast, which will be hosted at Children’s Mercy Park, will begin at 9 p.m. ET.

Sporting Kansas City has won the U.S. Open Cup. They hoisted the silverware in 2004 (as the Kansas City Wizards), 2012 (winning the Final at home) and again in 2015. The Red Bulls have finished as runners-up once in 2003 (when they were still known as the MetroStars).

The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States and the world's third-longest-running open soccer tournament.
