Ryan Meara will start in goal for the New York Red Bulls in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup Final, Head Coach Jesse Marsch announced on Monday.
"We're all excited for a big opportunity for him and we know he'll be ready to go," Marsch said.
Meara has tallied two cleansheets in four Open Cup matches this season. He also notched a huge penalty kick save against Philadephia to help the Red Bulls advance in the Open Cup.
"Ryan has earned it in how he has played through this tournament," Marsch said. "This is his tournament to play."
Meara has tallied four career shutouts in Open Cup matches.
"He's going to take us through the Final and to the trophy," Marsch said.
