As matchday nears, here are seven reasons to attend Red Bulls vs. D.C. United:

Atlantic Cup

With a victory on Wednesday, the Red Bulls will win the Atlantic Cup trophy by clinching the season series against D.C. United.

Last time out against D.C. United, New York prevailed at Red Bull Arena, 2-0.

The teams will face off one more time in the last game of the regular season at RFK Stadium on October 22.

Home Sweet Home

After back-to-back road games, the Red Bulls return to Red Bull Arena.

Need A Win

The Red Bulls have struggled during a difficult stretch in September, and are winless in their last four MLS matches this month.

With five regular-season games remaining, New York (12-11-6, 42 pts.) stand in sixth place of the Eastern Conference.

New York aims to bounce back on Wednesday, before concluding the busy month in Toronto on Saturday, September 30.

BWP Streak vs. D.C.

Bradley Wright-Phillips is currently on a three-game scoring streak against United, recording one goal in each of their previous three matchups.

The forward has scored six goals in his last seven games vs. D.C. United, dating back to 2015.

Historic Rivalry

Few MLS rivalries have more history than New York vs. D.C.

An original MLS rivalry that dates back to the inaugural 1996 season, United historically has gotten the best of the Red Bulls, leading the all-time regular-season series, 34-26-12.

However, New York has enjoyed success over the years at Red Bull Arena, with a 6-1-3 home record in Harrison.

Luis Robles vs. Bill Hamid

The matchup to watch this week takes place between the pipes with goalkeepers Luis Robles and Bill Hamid

Robles has a career 0.92 Goals Against Average in MLS regular season play against D.C. United, including a 6-3-4 record and six shutouts.

Hamid has a career 2-8-5 record and 1.80 Goals Against Average in the regular season against the Red Bulls.

More Lineup Rotation?

With New York preparing to play their fourth match in 10 days on Wednesday, we could see Jesse Marsch shuffle his lineup this week.

The Red Bulls have another quick turnaround following Wednesday’s game with a match on the road against Toronto FC on Saturday.

The match in Toronto will mark New York’s fifth game in 13 days.
