Jesse Marsch: When it Comes to Playoffs, ‘Everything’s in our Hands’

The New York Red Bulls realize that although results haven’t been going their way, they still control their own destiny.

“Everything’s in our hands,” Head Coach Jesse Marsch said after training on Monday. “Time is running short, so we’ve got to find a way in the next month - and still a busy stretch -  to get some results.”

The Red Bulls head into Wednesday’s game against D.C. United in sixth place of the Eastern Conference, the last qualifying spot for the 2017 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.

New York trails fifth-place Columbus Crew SC by five points, with the seventh-place Montreal Impact three points behind.

The Red Bulls hold two games in hand on Columbus and one game in hand on Montreal, but know they need results to secure their place in the postseason.

“The key is we can focus on us,” Marsch said. “We can figure out ways to get better in the next few days and the next few weeks and make a push here to get in the playoffs, and once we get there, we’ll be hungry for more.”

The New York Red Bulls host D.C. United on Wednesday, September 27 at Red Bull Arena.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MSG and New York Red Bulls Radio on Tunein.
