NYRB II Qualifies for 2017 USL Playoffs

2017 USL playoffs

HARRISON, N.J. (October 13, 2017) - New York Red Bulls II qualified for the 2017 USL Playoffs Thursday night helped by an Orlando City B defeat at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rowdies. The loss mathematically eliminated OCB from playoff contention ahead of NYRB II’s regular season finale Saturday at the Rochester Rhinos. Sitting in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, NYRB II can finish anywhere between sixth and eighth after this weekend’s slate of games.

Only in their third season, NYRB II have qualified each year for the USL Playoffs, most recently winning the USL Eastern Conference, USL Shield and USL Cup in 2016.

The New York Red Bulls remain the only club to reach the playoffs at the MLS and USL levels each year since 2015.

“To get in, it’s great. It obviously was a goal of ours. Guys have done well to achieve it, we’ve really performed well over a long stretch towards the end of the year when the games mattered and I think that’s important to us and for the development of our players so we’re real happy about that and we get to play in a playoff game. Anything can happen in the playoffs and we feel really good about where we’re at and hopefully we can continue those good performances with that little bit of momentum we have going into the playoffs.” – New York Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec
