U19ā€™s Breeze Passed Richmond United 7-0

October 22, 2017: Red Bulls U19ā€™s (7) vs. Richmond United (0)

In their second game of the weekend, the U19ā€™s waltzed through their Sunday fixture with Richmond United, winning by a score of 7-0. Early in the game NYRBā€™s pressing proved to be problematic for Richmond, and resulted in some great chances. Finishing early proved to be a problem early, as these chances fell by the wayside. Just before halftime that problem would disappear, as Preston Popp finished in the 33rd minute on a ball from Jack Valderrabano. Only three minutes would pass before Preston Popp would find the back of the net for the second time, putting NYRB up 2-0. Pablo Arias would get his name on the scoresheet before halftime with a goal in the 40th minute. At the half, up 3-0, the U19ā€™s kept the pedal to the floor. In the 47th minute, JP Marin would convert a beautiful free kick from just outside the box. JP would once again find the back of the net in the 52nd minute, as he scored a fantastic volley that ended up in the top right corner on an assist from Jack Valderrbano. Second half substitute Habtamu Darling converted on his first shot of the game in the 87th minute which went in off the post.  A late contender with JP Marinā€™s earlier goals came in the 88th minute when Jared Juleau hit a cracking volley from the top of the box that came bouncing out from a corner. The U19ā€™s remain top of the Atlantic East Division, as well as the top seeded team in the current playoff picture. They will look to continue this fantastic form on October 28 versus Philadelphia Union.
