What to Watch For: NYRB II vs. Indy Eleven

Zajec | 4/20/19

New York Red Bulls II will host Indy Eleven on April 28, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for:

TOP TEAMS BATTLE

NYRB II and Indy Eleven sit at second and third in the Eastern Conference respectively. This early on in the season, these matches are very crucial going forward. Indy Eleven has won four straight matches and have looked like a really strong side in the Eastern Conference. Despite their loss this past weekend, NYRB II are still really difficult to beat at home and have already scored fourteen goals this season and have started the season off very well.

ONLY A MATTER OF TIME

Forward Tom Barlow has made headlines for his scoring prowess, but this past Saturday he had five shots with four of them hitting the frame and none of them reaching the back of the net. With six goals in six matches, Barlow will always be a dangerous threat when on the field and no matter what team they are facing. Watch out for him this Sunday.

KEEP FIGHTING

Head Coach John Wolyniec acknowledged his frustration after the loss against Loudoun United at the weekend but believes his team can learn a valuable lesson from the match. “It is certainly frustrating but it’s a warning. You can’t let up against any teams, you can’t let up in any moments… up a goal, down a goal, up two goals, you still got to keep fighting and hopefully we learned that lesson because if we take that forward, we’ll be pretty successful,” Wolyniec said. NYRB II have not lost back-to-back matches since July 15, 2017. Everyone should expect this team to fight against Indy Eleven on Sunday.

New York Red Bulls II will return home on Wednesday, May 1 when they host Birmingham Legion FC, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET. For tickets, visit www.newyorkredbulls.com/2/tickets or call 1.877.727.7585.
