INSIDE THE 18: Josh Sims Gets First MLS Start -



Josh Sims, on loan from Southampton FC, will start his first MLS match on Saturday night against the Colorado Rapids at Red Bull Arena.


Sims starts in the midfield, alongside Kaku and Daniel Royer. Sean Davis and Marc Rzatkowski slot into the defensive midfield. Sims played 25 minutes in the Red Bulls’ previous match, coming off the bench against NYCFC.


Kaku is looking to catch fire for the remainder of the season as he has tallied a point in back-to-back matches. The Argentine midfielder became the 25th player in franchise history with at least 10 goals and 10 assists following his first-half goal against D.C. United. New York is 5-2-2 when Kaku records a goal or an assist this season.


Bradley Wright-Phillips starts at forward for New York, 


New York has responded with multi-goal performances in five of the 10 matches following a loss.


Rece Buckmaster, Aaron Long, Tim Parker and Kemar Lawrence start along the backline, in front of Luis Robles in goal. 


On the bench, Head Coach Chris Armas will have Amro Tarek, Alex Muyl, Omir Fernandez, Cristian Casseres Jr., Michael Amir Murillo and Tom Barlow. Ryan Meara will serve as the backup goalkeeper.


The Red Bulls have held serve at Red Bull Arena against the Rapids, owning an undefeated mark of 4-0-3. New York and Colorado last faced off against one another at RBA on March 11, 2017 with the Red Bulls earning a 1-0 win from a Colorado own goal.


New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 6 p.m. EST with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Ernesto Motta will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
