Academy Match Recap: Opening Weekend

New York Red Bulls Academy teams opened their 2020 fall season this weekend, which also marked the beginning of the newly created, MLS Next league that the Red Bulls Academy will be participating in.  


The academy had a 7-0 record on the weekend, with a total of 32 goals scored and only five goals allowed.


Red Bulls U-19ā€™s defeated Cedar Stars Monmouth, 6-0, in their first match of the fall season. Forward Roald Mitchell recorded a hat trick, while Nicola Rosamilia tallied a brace. Curtis Ofori rounded out the scoring in the match.


Red Bulls U-17ā€™s started their season off on the right note with a 3-0 victory over Cedar Stars Monmouth. They had three different goal scorers on the day, with Eli Conway opening up the scoring. Jackson Hopkins and Nicholas Rabiu tallied a goal each as well.  


Red Bulls U-15ā€™s defeated Cedar Stars Monmouth, 5-2, with the second hat trick of the weekend going to forward Patrick Shaw. Henry Weston and Lenny Avilies each added a goal in the match.


Red Bulls U-14's had the closest match of they day, but closed out the match with a 3-2 victory over Cedar Stars Monmouth. Jeremy Munoz, Pipeloore Olanrewaju, and Zidane Yanez all had goals in the victory.


Red Bulls U-13ā€™s had the largest margin of victory over the weekend with a 7-0 win over Cedar Stars Monmouth. Six different goal scorers contributed in the match, with Aiden Costner recording a brace. Finn Moran, Gil de Souza, Henryk Telakowski, Jack Mize, and Patrick Kolano each recorded a goal.


Red Bulls U-12ā€™s Red played against Real JFC to open up their season and they won, 6-1. The final hat trick of the opening weekend was scored by Jonathan Condor. The other goal scorers in the match were Deven Cadigan, Isaac Rakovsky, and Jun Tanaka.  


Red Bulls U-12ā€™s Grey was the final team to take the field on Saturday and they defeated Penn Fusion, 2-0. Darius Millington opened up the scoring in the first half, while Hudson Sherwood rounded out the scoring to secure the victory.
