Cameron Harper Enjoying His First Days with RBNY

The New York Red Bulls’ newest winger, 19-year-old Cameron Harper has had the opportunity to train with his new teammates since the first day of preseason.

“It's been really hard, especially having to run around so much,” he said after Tuesday’s morning training session. “Sometimes when I lose the ball I don't get back immediately enough, so I'm trying to learn how to do that a bit better. [My] foot on the ball is good, I can win the ball back in high areas and get in dangerous positions.”

Harper looks forward to making the trip down to Florida, which will allow him to get to know his new teammates. He also looks forward to playing MLS sides Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC.

“It'll be good, it will be fun because I've not had a lot of first-team experience, but it's going to be good to kind of see how the teams are here,” he said. “It's going to be good to travel somewhere, so I can get to know the guys a little bit more. I’ll be able to see Inter Miami, play against some good players and also Nashville. It’ll be fun.”

Although he was born in California, his three years in Scotland have helped him quickly adapt to the weather in the Tri-State area. His main goal in the following days is to get match sharp ahead of the 2021 season.

“Hopefully get match sharp as much as I can,” he said. “Hopefully maybe I can get a goal or two down in Florida.”
