Head Coach Gerhard Struber is preparing his team for his first full season in charge, working hard during preseason to establish the Red Bull identity.
"I think, this season, the big key to come in furthering our process and to make the next step in our identity," Struber said. "I think this is realistic, to bring the team, our identity, I think about the long term goals, what we have, it's clear.
"This is not only my goal, this is the goal from the whole club," Struber said.
With the new additions to the club -- and nearly everyone now in camp with the team -- having them understand their roles and their relationships with their teammates is key.
"Every single player understand his role in the team, that every single player understands his responsibility in the team, and also that we work together synchronizing our identity," Struber said.
Andrew Gutman, in on loan after two seasons in MLS, said coming to RBNY showed how important culture is to the club.
"But the biggest thing, the difference that I've seen here, is there's already an established culture," Gutman said. "When you walk into the locker room, you know what's expected of you the style of play. The leaders are very vocal on the team."
Gutman said RBNY have always been a tough team to play, and coming into Red Bull Arena is always a challenge for opponents.
"That's a key part to any successful team or organization: having that established culture, leadership, and everyone knowing the rules right from the beginning," Gutman said.
In the end, the identity crafted by Struber and his staff will help the team compete for trophies.
