MATCH PREVIEW: New York Red Bulls II to Host Toronto FC II at MSU Soccer Park for MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day on Sunday, October 5

HARRISON, N.J. (October 3, 2025) – New York Red Bulls II (16-6-5, 55 pts) to host Toronto FC II (10-11-6, 38 pts) at MSU Soccer Park for MLS NEXT Pro Decision Day on Sunday, October 5. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV. Sam Goldfarb will be on the call.

New York sit in a tie with Philadelphia for the first place in the Eastern Conference. With a victory, Red Bulls II can clinch the number one seed of the Eastern Conference in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. New York is coming off a midweek road clash at NKU Soccer Stadium against FC Cincinnati 2 on Wednesday, October 1. Red Bulls II gained the lead early in the fifth minute off a near post-strike from midfielder Andy Rojas. However, the squad gave up a first half stoppage time equalizer and a 49th minute game winner to fall 2-1.

Toronto is in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and are fighting to clinch a spot in the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs. With a victory, they can clinch the seventh or eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. TFC II are winless in their last three matches and are coming off a 2-1 loss to Philadelphia Union II on Friday, September 26.

Through six all time MLS NEXT Pro matches against Toronto, New York hold the advantage going 3-2-1 and are unbeaten in four of their last five matches against the side.

The two sides last faced off on July 11 at York Lions Stadium. TFC II started strong, scoring two goals in the 18th and 36th minutes. New York found the scoresheet in the 73rd minute thanks to a cross from Rojas that found the feet of midfielder Rafael Mosquera who provided the finish. Red Bulls II fought until the end and in the final moments of stoppage time, forward Tanner Rosborough buried a volley into the back of the net off a Mosquera corner kick. The match went on to a penalty kick shootout where midfielder Ibrahim Kasule, forward Roald Mitchell, Mosquera, and Rosborough converted their attempts and goalkeeper Aidan Stokes made a save to secure two points in a 4:3 shootout victory.

Rosborough has been a monster when facing Toronto, scoring a goal in his last three appearances against the side. He leads the active squad with three career goals against TFC II.

Following Sunday’s match, New York will be back in action for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs with opponent, date, and time of the match to be announced at a later date.
