MATCH RECAP: New York Red Bulls II Fall 4-2 to New England Revolution II at Gillette Stadium on Friday Night

The New York Red Bulls II (13-5-4, 45 pts) fall 4-2 to New England Revolution II (9-5-6, 38 pts) on Friday night at Gillette Stadium.

New England opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Defender Gabriel Dahlin slipped a through ball to forward Liam Butts who stuck a right footed shot into the top right corner of the net.

New York leveled the match in the 33rd minute. Midfielder Dylan Sullivan took a lateral touch inside the box and was fouled by defender Keegan Hughes. Midfielder Ibrahim Kasule stepped up and converted his attempt into the bottom left corner.

Revolution II regained the lead in the 44th minute. Midfielder Javaun Mussenden played a lateral pass from the top of the box to midfielder Marcos Dias who took a first time right footed shot into the bottom right corner.

New England added a third in the 53rd minute. Dias bounced on a deflected ball in the box and placed a shot into the back of the net.

Red Bulls II cut the lead to one in the 57th minute. Forward Mijahir Jiménez played a ball towards the touch line to defender Curtis Ofori who crossed a ball inside the six-yard box to midfielder Malick Dembele who placed a shot into the back of the net.

Revolution II sealed the deal in the 79th minute. Forward Damorney Hutchinson curled a through ball to midfielder Gevork Diarbian who took two touches and laced a shot into the bottom left corner.

Kasule scored his 28th career goal with the club and sixth of the season.

With his 54th career start, Kasule passed Steven Sserwadda for sole position of second most-starts from a midfielder in team history.

The midfielder made his 54th career start and has passed Steven Sserwadda, Juan Gutierrez, O’Vonte Mullings and AJ Marcucci for fourth-most starts in club history.

Kasule scored his third career goal against New England and has two goals in his last three appearances against Revolution II.

Dembele scored his first goal of the season and third of his career.

The Malian native made his first appearance since October 6, 2024 and first start since August 17, 2024 after sustaining an abdominal injury.

The midfielder has scored a goal in back-to-back appearances, with his last goal in a 1-1 draw against Chattanooga FC on October 6, 2024.

Ofori tallied his second assist of the season and his fourth of his career.

Midfielder Benny Rodriguez made his first career MLS NEXT Pro start.

Defender Sebasthian Chavez made his first career MLS NEXT Pro start.

Subbing on in the 67th minute, midfielder Ryan Scuro made his first career MLS NEXT Pro appearance.

Subbing on in the 80th minute, midfielder Paul Sokoloff made his first career MLS NEXT Pro appearance.

Scuro and Sokoloff became the sixth and seventh Academy products to make their MLS NEXT Pro debuts for Red Bulls II this season.

Goalkeeper Austin Causey made four saves on the night, which is the second-most saves the goalkeeper has made this season.

In his last two appearances, Causey has recorded a combined 10 saves.
