MATCH RECAP:  Red Bull New York II Defeats Toronto FC II 2-1 at York Lions Stadium

Red Bull New York II (7-0-2, 23 pts.) defeat Toronto FC II (3-4-2, 11 pts.) 2-1 on Friday afternoon at York Lions Stadium.

New York opened the scoring in the 65th minute, midfielder Andy Rojas played a ball down the left flank to defender Joyeux Masanka Bungi who played a cut back ball to the top of the box to midfielder Nate Worth who struck a one-time right footed shot into the top right corner of the net.

Red Bulls II doubled their lead in the 78th minute. Midfielder Cameron Harper played a ball into the box that was deflected took a deflection and fell far post to defender Julian Bazan who dropped a ball to Rojas who laced a shot top right corner.

Toronto got on the scoresheet in the 82nd minute. Forward Antone Bossenberry played a ball down the right wing to midfielder Tristian Blyth who played a cross into the six that was placed into the bottom left corner by forward Kervon Kerr.  

Worth scored his second goal of the season and has four goal contributions in his last four appearances.

Rojas recorded his third goal and second assist of the season. 

The midfielder scored has three goals through two appearances against Toronto. 

Masanka Bungi recorded his first career MLS NEXT Pro assist. 

Bazan recorded his second assist of the season and has assists in back-to-back matches. 

Goalkeeper Tobias Szewczyk made a career high eight saves in the match. 

Szewczyk’s eight saves are tied with Aidan Stokes for the most saves made in a single MLS NEXT Pro match in club history. 

The goalkeeper’s eight saves are tied for the fourth-most saves in a single match in franchise history.

Through his last two appearances, Szewczyk has made 15 saves which is the most saves by a goalkeeper between Matchday 9 and Matchday 10. 

Midfielder Brady Boulanger made his MLS NEXT Pro debut, subbing into the match in the 90th minute.

New York are unbeaten in their last five matches on the road in MLS NEXT Pro. 

The side is unbeaten through the first nine matches of the season for the first time in club history. 

With the victory, Red Bulls II improve their record to 5-2-1 against Toronto FC II and are unbeaten in their last four matches against the side.
