Carlos Coronel already knows how it feels to play in front of fans at Red Bull Arena, as he appeared in the starting line-up in RBNY’s last preseason friendly match against D.C. United. The 24-years-old Brazilian goalkeeper is excited for the new season to start.

“Yes, I feel better every day,” said Coronel. “I'm looking for, of course being 100%, to help out the team and I think I am very close to being at that 100%. I think this week has been a week where we're working out the details to be ready for Saturday's match.”

Coronel has enjoyed working alongside Ryan Meara and rookie AJ Marcucci, who recently signed with NYRBII.

“I'm adapting well. Ryan (Meara) has been helping me a lot as I adapt here with the club,” said Coronel. “AJ (Marcucci) is still a newer goalkeeper, but he has a lot of potential. We understand each other well and have great training sessions. Given this, I believe that we are on the right path.”

As Head Coach Gerhard Struber works on integrating his philosophy into the team, Coronel has seen how quickly the rest of his teammate have captured his ideas. He feel the team will be ready for Saturday’s home opener against Kansas City.

“The team is understanding the coach's idea, and of course, I'm here to help,” he said. “I understand the coach's philosophy very well; I had the chance to work with him in Austria. I think the group is understanding our game plan. I believe this Saturday we're going to be prepared to execute what the coach wants.”

Coronel has been with Red Bull teams since a very young age. When he thinks about all the experiences he’s been able to live with Red Bull, the sentiment is always of pride.

“It is an immense pleasure to work with Red Bull, it's a club, an enterprise that's growing, it's becoming a global powerhouse. And to be part of this Red Bull family makes me very proud,” said Coronel. “I feel very happy, and now I had this opportunity to come to Red Bull New York, which I always followed. I believe it's a sensational and phenomenal club.

“I come here looking to get the best results possible this season, to get the first Cup. I feel the sensation is good. I'm very happy to now be a part of Red Bull New York, just as in other years I felt the same with Red Bull Brasil, Liefering, and Red Bull Salzburg. I think it's an adventure for me which makes me very happy,” he concluded.
