Cásseres Jr. has played for Venezuela’s U-20s and U-17s, and under manager Amleto Bonaccorso, La Vinotinto will aspire to win one of two South American spots in the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The New York Red Bulls midfielder is part of a generation of Venezuelan footballers, who finished runner ups in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

Venezuela is in Group A, alongside Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and Argentina. The top two places of that five-team group will move to a final phase, which will include the best two of Group A and Group B. Group B’s teams include Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Uruguay and Perú.

Cásseres Jr. started 22 games in the 2019 MLS season and finished with three goals and four assists.
