Red Bull New York midfielder David Ruiz has been selected to the Honduras National Team roster for their upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches, the federation announced today.
Ruiz, 22, is in his first season with the Red Bulls after being acquired via loan from Inter Miami CF on September 2. Ruiz made his first appearance for New York on September 5 against the Seattle Sounders, after coming on as a substitute and playing for 16 minutes. The midfielder has made 63 career MLS appearances in four seasons in MLS, and has recorded three goals and four assists.
The Miami, Florida native has made 10 career appearances for Honduras and has scored three career goals. He made his debut for Honduras on September 12, 2023, in a CONCACAF Nations League match against Grenada. Ruiz received his most recent call-up in June of this year, where he made an appearance in an international friendly against Argentina on June 6.
Ruiz and Honduras will play four CONCACAF Nations League matches during this FIFA international window. First, Honduras will face off against Suriname on September 25 at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés, with kickoff set for 9 p.m. ET. They will then travel to Independence Park to play Jamaica on September 28, with kickoff set for 8 p.m. ET. Honduras will remain on the road and head to Stade Pierre-Aliker to face Martinique on October 2, kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET. They will finish the international window playing Jamaica in Honduras at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés on October 5, kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET.
