New York Red Bulls forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has been selected to the Cameroon National Team roster for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier Semifinal against DR Congo, the federation announced today.
Choupo-Moting, 36, finished his first season with New York, where he made 33 MLS appearances and recorded 17 goals and five assists. His 17 goals ranked tied for eighth in MLS and also ranked second among MLS newcomers. Choupo-Moting recorded four multi-goal games and was named to the MLS Team of the Matchday four times throughout the season.
The forward has made 76 career appearances for the Cameroon National Team, where he has scored 20 goals and tallied four assists. He featured for Cameroon at the 2010, 2014, and 2022 FIFA World Cups. Choupo-Moting recorded his first career FIFA World Cup goal in a 3-3 draw against Serbia at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. This will be his third consecutive call-up for Cameroon this calendar year.
Choupo-Moting and Cameroon will face off against DR Congo on Thursday, November 13 at 2 p.m. ET in the AFCON World Cup Qualifier Semifinal. If Cameroon advance, they will partake in the final on Sunday, November 16.
