Kaku Makes International Debut for Paraguay

Paraguay Japan 061218

AUSTRIA (June 12, 2018) – Red Bulls Young Designated Player Alejandro “Kaku” Romero Gamarra made his debut for Paraguay on Tuesday evening in an international friendly against World-Cup bound Japan. Kaku entered the match, which took place in Austria, as a second half sub.

The attacking midfielder, who appeared as a youth international for his native Argentina, recently had his one-time switch approved by FIFA, and was subsequently named to his first camp in the lead up to the friendly. Kaku draws Paraguayan lineage through his parents.

The Red Bulls signed Kaku as a Young Designated Player in February after completing a transfer from CA Huracan in Argentina. Since arriving, the playmaker has delivered three goals and leads MLS with nine assists in nine games played.
