Match Preview: NYRB II Hosts Loudoun United FC on Thursday Night

HARRISON, N.J. (September 29, 2021) – New York Red Bulls II (5-16-5, 20 points) host Loudoun United FC (3-18-2, 11 points) on Thursday, September 30. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 7:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.

The match will mark the second of four meetings between the two clubs this season. New York defeated Loudoun 2-1 in the first meeting on May 18, getting goals from forward Omar Sowe and defender Mandela Egbo. The clubs will meet twice in October to round out the season series.

New York is coming off a week in which it earned four points away from home, with its most recent match being a scoreless draw against Real Monarchs SLC on Sunday, September 26. Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci recorded six saves for the second time in three matches while also earning his first clean sheet of the season.

Loudoun is led by goalkeeper Jermaine Fordah, who ranks fifth in the USL Championship with 73 saves.

New York currently sits in seventh place of the Atlantic Division, while Loudoun ranks eighth. They fell 6-1 to The Miami FC in their last match on Saturday, September 25. 

Following Thursday’s match, New York will travel to face the Charlotte Independence on Saturday, October 9. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET and coverage will be available on ESPN+.
