MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: RBNY Fall to FC Dallas

16x9 15

FC Dallas topped Red Bull New York, 2-0, on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

Dallas scored twice in the second half to take the three points.

"By and large, in the first half we played pretty well," Head Coach Michael Bradley said. "The second half starts a little bit choppy, with fouls, and neither team really getting a grip on things. Then, obviously, we concede the first goal. And at that point, it’s the most obvious thing in the world to say, but goals change games, especially in tight games. From there, the response — our ability to really push the game, to be relentless, to play forward, to make chances and push back into it — that part wasn’t what it needed to be today."

Dallas opened the scoring in the 54th minute. Midfielder Ran Binyamin played a cross far post to forward Petar Musa who took a touch and struck a right footed shot into the bottom left corner.

The visitors sealed the match in the 88th minute. Forward Logan Farrington took a touch past the keeper and played a cross far post to forward Samuel Sarver, who headed the ball into the back of the net.

Defender Juan Mina made his first career MLS start in the match.

Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath made four saves on the night.

"We are doing everything we possibly can to have a team on the field every week that our fans can be proud of, that they can enjoy watching, and that represents them in a way they connect with," Bradley said. "There have been days this year where we’ve done that in a really good way. In this last stretch, it hasn’t been what they want or what we want, so we’re all feeling the same thing. The players are giving everything they have, not just in games but every day in training. We’re using every day to get better, to push the group forward, to make individuals better and the team stronger. Our fans are incredible, and if you want passionate fans, you understand their frustration when things don’t go well. It’s on us to keep working, to keep improving every game. It’s one game at a time — we’re not writing anything off or labeling the season. We’re focused on the next game, getting better, and continuing to push forward. I’m positive that if we do that, we’ll have a lot of good days and good nights."

New York will now head on the road to Soldier Field on Saturday, May 9 to face Chicago Fire FC.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. ET with coverage on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and Red Bulls Radio in English via the Red Bull New York app and RedBullNewYork.com.
