Red Bull New York fell to Charlotte FC, 6-1, on Saturday night.
RBNY went down to 10 men early in the second half, when Gustav Berggren was sent off with a red card.
Julian Hall scored the lone goal for New York.
Hall scored his fourth goal of the season and is tied for third-most goals scored in MLS and second-most goals scored in the Eastern Conference this season.
"We're building something," Head Coach Michael Bradley said. "We're on the path to becoming a really good team. But unfortunately, nights like tonight are part of it sometimes, and we have to be able to take the lessons. We have to be able to learn. We have to be able to as we move forward, reward ourselves for all the good things that we do, and be able to deal with a few situations, a few moments, a little bit better."
The Red Bulls will be back in action on Saturday, April 4, when they host FC Cincinnati at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
"We're trying one day at a time, to build a team that can hold up in the biggest moments, that can play football, that can compete, that can really, really challenge for things in every way," Bradley said. "I said to the players, unfortunately, nights like this are a tough part of that road, that journey. We have to look at ourselves. Understand the things that are going in a good direction, understand the things that need to get better -- and we will."
Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and Red Bulls Radio in English via the Red Bull New York app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
