Red Bull New York midfielder Andy Rojas has been called up to the Costa Rica National Team for their upcoming March international friendlies.Â
Rojas, 20, is in his first season with the Red Bulls after being acquired via transfer from C.S. Herediano. The midfielder has made two appearances this season, which included his MLS debut in New York’s 1-0 win over New England Revolution at Sports Illustrated Stadium on February 28. Prior to joining the first team, Rojas made 21 MLS NEXT Pro appearances for the Red Bull New York II, where he scored five goals and tallied two assists. He helped lead RBNY II to win their first MLS NEXT Pro Cup title.Â
The Grecia, Costa Rica native has made 15 appearances for the Costa Rica National Team, where he has scored one goal. Rojas made his debut for Costa Rica in a match against Saint Kitts and Nevis and scored three minutes into his debut and became the youngest Costa Rican player to score in a World Cup qualifier at 18 years, 184 days old.Â
Rojas and Costa Rica will partake in two international friendlies during the March FIFA International Window. First, they will face Jordan on Friday, March 27 and then they will play Iran on Tuesday, March 31.
