Red Bulls Tim Cahill and Roy Miller Called Up for International Duty

HARRISON, NJ (May 24, 2013) – New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill (Australia) and defender Roy Miller (Costa Rica) were called up by their respective national teams for upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifying Matches. Cahill will leave after New York’s May 26 game against the Columbus Crew at Red Bull Arena at 5:00 PM ET while Miller will depart following the team’s match versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Red Bull Arena on June 1 at 7:00 PM ET.

Cahill was called up for Australia’s vital final qualifiers against Japan on June 4 in Saitama, Japan, Jordan on June 11 in Melbourne, Australia, and against Iraq on June 18 in Sydney, Australia. Cahill has 62 caps for his country. After joining the Red Bulls during the 2012 season, Cahill started in 12 regular season matches and two postseason games, notching a goal and three assists that year. Cahill has started in 13 regular season matches this year, notching four goals and two assists. Australia is currently in third place in Group B in Asian World Cup Qualifying with six points.

Miller has tallied 37 caps for Costa Rica and will join the Ticos for their CONCACAF qualifiers versus Honduras on June 7 (in San Jose, Costa Rica), Mexico on June 11 (in Mexico City, Mexico), and Panama on June 18 (in San Jose, Costa Rica). A member of the Red Bulls since 2010, Miller has played in 10 matches for New York this year. He tallied a career-high six assists in 24 appearances in 2012. Costa Rica currently has four points in CONCACAF Qualifying following a 2-0 win versus Jamaica on Mar. 26, 2013.
