New York Red Bulls Academy sides returned to action this weekend as the fall season kicked off at the Red Bulls Training Facility in Hanover, NJ.

The U-15s controlled the match from the first whistle, creating plenty of chances and limiting the opponent defensively, yet couldn't translate the effort into goals before the break. Despite only allowing one goal, the Red Bulls were forced to settle for a point after defensive miscommunication led to a goal on PDA's only shot of the match.

In U-18 action, New York opened up the season with a 2-2 tie at home against the Revolution Empire. Alex Tejera wasted no time getting the Red Bulls on the board when he knocked in a header off a Derrick Etienne corner kick in the sixth minute. Energized by the early goal, New York continued to pressure and found the back of the net yet again in the 34th minute when Etienne curled a 25-yard free kick into the upper-right corner of the goal.

New York was unable to take the lead into the half, as Revolution Empire pulled within one in the 39th minute.

In the second half, Revolution Empire capitalized on a Red Bulls defensive miscue and leveled the score in the 60th minute. New York would press for the winning goal over the final 20 minutes, but watched a number of chances shut down by the Empire defense.
