'One Goal at a Time' Approach for New York Red Bulls

Head Coach Chris Armas understands what lies ahead in Leg 2 against Club Santos Laguna, with his team facing a 2-0 deficit for their match in Mexico.

"We know that it’s a tough task but one that we’re up for," Armas said in his postgame press conference.

With their life in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League hanging in the balance, Leg 2 will be an uphill battle in unfriendly conditions. Armas said he will prepare his team "intelligently."

"We have to have balance and a calculated approach," Armas said. "Certainly, the game won't be won in the first twenty minutes from us, but it can be lost, so we'll have to be smart in how we go about it."

The Red Bulls will need to hold a 2-0 advantage at the end of regulation to be equal on aggregate and force penalty kicks in Leg 2, or any two-goal margin of victory to advance outright

"We'll have to remain aggressive, too," Armas said. "That's who we are. We'll go there calculated -- but [it's] one goal at a time."
