What to Watch For: NYRB II @ Nashville SC

Barlow vs. ATL

New York Red Bulls II will be going on a three-match road trip, starting with a trip to play Nashville SC on August 21, with kick-off set for 8 p.m. ET. Here are three things to look out for:

LET’S DO IT AGAIN

On June 26th, these two clubs met at First Tennessee Park, but unfortunately at halftime the match would be abandoned due to severe weather. NYRB II picked up an early goal from Mathias Jørgensen in the match, but Nashville would claw their way back to take a lead into the break before the postponement. This time Nashville is carrying momentum from their six-match unbeaten streak, but with NYRB II having a week off, let’s see how this one goes down on Wednesday.

BARLOW STRIKES

Despite NYRB II suffering a loss at the hands of Pittsburgh, Tom Barlow continued his terrific scoring resume, recording his 11th goal of the season in that match in only 13 appearances. Depending on his availability, Barlow would be a key guy to have, especially because he did not feature in either match against Nashville this season.

A POSSIBLE DEBUT?

This past week, NYRB II signed forward Omar Sowe to a USL Championship contract. Sowe was a member of the Red Bulls U-18 Academy team and has featured for NYRB U-23’s this past season as well. With a two road matches within three days of each other, it is possible that Sowe will get his professional debut in one of the matches. Keep an eye out for that.

Following Wednesday’s match, NYRB II will immediately travel to Kansas City, where they will take on Swope Park Rangers on August 24, with kick-off set for 8 p.m. ET.
