What to Watch For: NYRB II vs. Charleston Battery

Bezecourt vs. CTL

New York Red Bulls II will host Charleston Battery on Friday, September 27, with kick-off set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Here are three things to watch for:

ANOTHER RECORD IN REACH?

NYRB II are sitting at 11 home wins this season and are only one shy of breaking the club record for most home wins in the regular season. They have posted two double-digit home win seasons. The club has only lost six matches in the last three years at home. This Friday will be a tough battle, but if NYRB II come out on top they will make history.

STROUD ON FIRE

Jared Stroud has been having a great season, totaling 14 goals and nine assists, which has surpassed his points total from last season. He has scored four goals in his last six matches and is only two goals away from breaking Brandon Allen’s regular season goal record, which he scored 15 in one regular season. If Stroud can continue his run of form, he will put himself in the history books once again.

GET BACK ON TRACK

NYRB II have lost their last two matches, both road contests at Saint Louis and Louisville City FC. Being back home, NYRB II will need to get points to make sure they can secure a home playoff match. “The key now is just to make sure; we talk a lot about next play and all that stuff, getting on with it, not worrying about mistakes. We have to take what we can get from it and put it behind us and get ready for Friday,” Head Coach John Wolyniec said. NYRB II will put themselves in a good spot if they can get a victory on Friday night, especially with Indy Eleven and Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC playing each other on Saturday night.

Following Friday’s match, New York Red Bulls II will finish their regular season with a three-match road trip, which starts with a trip to play North Carolina FC on October 5, with kick-off set for 7 p.m. ET.
