How Decision Day, pres. by AT&T, Could Play Out for the New York Red Bulls

Decision Day, presented by AT&T, is upon us. The New York Red Bulls have secured a spot in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, but with one game to play, their position heading into the postseason is still on the table.

With all MLS games kicking off at the same time (4 PM ET), here are the outcomes for the Red Bulls’ Sunday:

Red Bulls claim No. 4 seed, host playoff game vs. D.C. United or Toronto FC

If the Red Bulls win on Sunday, combined with a loss or draw by D.C., New York will vault into the No. 4 spot and host a playoff game. They would face either D.C. or Toronto, based on the outcome of their respective matches.

Or, New York can secure a home match with a draw, paired with a D.C. loss and Toronto FC loss or draw.

Red Bulls stay as No. 5 seed, play on the road vs. D.C. United or Toronto FC

New York could hold in the No. 5 spot, which would mean an away match at either D.C. or Toronto, depending on their results. With Toronto just one point back of New York, they could leapfrog both teams and into the No. 4 spot and into hosting a home match.

Red Bulls fall to No. 6 seed, play on the road vs. Philadelphia

If both teams win, while New York loses or draws in Montreal, the Red Bulls could fall to the sixth seed and would head on the road to face the No. 3 seed Philadelphia Union in the first round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
