All the academy teams were in action this weekend for the first time this year, including the U-14ās, U-15ās, and U-17ās hosting Cedar Stars Academy-Monmouth at the Red Bulls Training Facility.
Red Bulls U-19ās tied Philadelphia Union U-19ās, 3-3
The U-19ās had a tough battle against the Philadelphia Union U-19ās, where the score ended tied 3-3. The U-19ās opened up the scoring in the 36th minute, where Sal Esposito scored his third goal of the season. In the 39th minute, they would double their lead, when Diogo Rebelo scored his fourth of the season. The Union U-19ās scored right before halftime to keep their side in the match. Early in the second half, Dantouma Toure found his fourth of the year to increase his sideās lead. Unfortunately, the U-19ās would come away with only a point, when the Union scored two late goals in the 70th and 75th minute.
Red Bulls U-17ās defeated Cedar Stars Academy-Monmouth U-17ās, 2-0.
The U-17ās won their second straight match, when they defeated CSA Monmouth, 2-0. The first goal came in the 16th minute when Tapiwa Shumba put a shot in the bottom right corner to give his club the lead. The U-17ās found an insurance goal in the 86th minute when Joao Vitor crossed a ball in the box that found the foot of Edwin Melendez to give them the victory. Andrew Noel recorded his second shutout of the season and Calvin Williams was named Man of the Match.
Red Bulls U-15ās defeated Cedar Stars Academy-Monmouth U-15ās, 2-0.
The U-15ās won their first game of the Developmental Academy season with a 2-0 victory over CSA Monmouth U-15ās. The U-15ās found the opener when Luciano Sanchez came on in the second half and scored his fifth goal of the season in the 66th minute. Six minutes later, the U-15ās would double their lead when Ezra Widman found the foot of Darsein Gabriel. Parker Smith and Dreni Idrizi combined to record the clean sheet. Gabriel was named Man of the Match.
Red Bulls U-14ās defeated Cedar Stars Academy-Monmouth U-14ās, 9-0
The U-14ās had five different goal scorers on the day, including four goals from Patrick Shaw. The U-14ās would also find goals from Mark Bronnick. Andrew Baptiste, Henry Weston, and Gabriel Ruitenberg. This was the U-14ās third straight shutout of the season, and Shaw earned Man of the Match honors.
Red Bulls U-13ās defeated Cedar Stars Academy- Monmouth U-13ās, 6-2.
The U-13ās went down early in the match when CSA Monmouth struck in the 4th minute of pay. Zidane Yanez found the equalizer only a minute later after Weston found him on the cross. They would then go down 2-1, when CSA Monmouth scored in the 17th minute. It would be a different story in the second half, when Zidane Yanez recorded three more goals to help lift the U-13ās to victory. The other goals were scored by Neptaly Castro and Gil DeSouza. Yanez was named Man of the Match.
This week the U-15ās and U-17ās will prepare to begin MLS Generation Adidas Cup Qualifying at Power Training Complex in Chester, PA. Each team will be playing D.C. United, Philadelphia Union, and newcomer Inter Miami. The tournament will run from October 11 to October 14.
