Cristian Cásseres Jr. got his first Senior National Team start for Venezuela as they hosted Paraguay on Tuesday night.

Cásseres Jr. made several key tackles and clearances in the first half to help La Vinotinto head into halftime with a scoreless draw.

In the 65th minute, Yangel Herrera scored in a corner kick play, in which Cásseres Jr. participated in the build-up, however after VAR revision, the goal was called off due to a handball.

In the 78th minute, Herrera had another great scoring chance for Venezuela, but his attempt missed the target.

Chicago Fire’s Gastón Giménez gave Paraguay the 1-0 lead in the 85th minute.

Cásseres Jr. came off the field in the 89th minute. Kaku didn’t see minutes.

Venezuela was awarded a penalty in injury time, but Herrera saw his attempt stopped by goalkeeper Antony Silva. Paraguay walked away with a 1-0 win.

Paraguay’s upcoming World Cup Qualifiers will be against Argentina and Bolivia in November, while Venezuela will play against Brazil and Chile.
