OVERVIEW
Each spring, the New York Red Bulls hosts the RDS Invitational — an elite, invitation-only tournament for U10 and U11 boys' teams held at the Red Bulls' state-of-the-art first-team training facility in Whippany, NJ. Bringing together the top teams from across the New York metro area and beyond, the Invitational is a one-day festival experience built entirely around player development and the joy of the game.
In keeping with the Red Bulls' commitment to youth development, the event is completely free for all participants. No scores are kept. There are no playoffs and no tournament winner. The Invitational is designed to give every young player the opportunity to compete in a top-level environment at a world-class facility — the same facility used by the Red Bulls' MLS first team.
PLAYER RECOGNITION
At the end of each game, a delegate from each team nominates two players from the opposing team as game MVPs. These nominations accumulate over the course of the day to identify each team's tournament Most Valuable Player. Each team's MVP and other award recipients are then recognized on the field at Sports Illustrated Stadium at a Red Bull New York MLS regular-season match shortly after the event — a memorable moment for every player involved.
